I'm just launching a small developers ecosystem in Portland OR, the NPN ( Neighborhood Placemakers Network).
I think the small developer can change the image of the fee developer for the better, and make themselves heroes of their neighborhoods. But only if they make an honest effort to listen to the community they're working in. In fact, building this missing part of the development process can actually generate ideas for more projects from the neighbors themselves. (I'm writing a Neighborhood Guide to help my members developers do that herer.) Once it's done, perhaps we can chat about it.
